KENTWOOD, Mich. – The University of Olivet softball team split a non-conference doubleheader against Grace Christian University this afternoon at Kellogg Woods Park.
THE BASICS
- Final Scores: Olivet 12, Grace Christian 6; Grace Christian 10, Olivet 4

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
- In the first inning, the Comets took a 3-0 lead behind a two-run double by junior Alexis Bond and RBI-ground out off freshman Elliott Jarvi's bat. Olivet added two runs to its total on a two-run by junior Haylie Wenke.
- The Tigers scored three runs in the third inning. The Comets added another run in the top of fourth. Grace Christian closed the gap to a single run, 7-6, when it pushed across three runs in the bottom of the fourth.
- Olivet added five runs in the sixth inning. The big blast of the inning was a grand slam by Bond. The fifth run was scored on junior Hailey Henning's RBI-single.
- For the game, the Comets recorded 14 total hits (five doubles, one home run and eight singles).
- Bond was 3-for-4 with a single, double and home run to go along with six RBI. Wenke, sophomore Kyleigh Ramos and freshman Jordan Reed each had two hits. Senior Corina Hernandez scored three runs.
- In the circle, Jarvi threw the first three and two-thirds innings, giving up six runs (five earned) on seven hits. Sophomore Megan Cox earned the win after tossing three and one-third innings of scoreless relief.
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
- Olivet scored three runs in the top of first on an RBI-double by Bond and two-run double by freshman Mia Thurman. The Tigers pushed across six runs in the home half of the first before adding two runs in both the fourth and fifth innings. The Comets closed the scoring with a run in the sixth.
- At the plate, the Comets tallied four hits. Bond went 2-for-4 with a single and double. Sophomore Alisha Gahn suffered the loss after surrendering five runs on three hits and two walks. Cox and Jarvi tossed four and two innings, respectively.

- Olivet is off until Friday, March 20, when it plays a doubleheader at Cleary University, starting at 1 p.m.
