UOlivet drops MIAA-opening doubleheader at Alma

ALMA, Mich. – The University of Olivet softball team began Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) play with two losses by matching 10-0 scores to Alma College this afternoon at Scots Park.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
- The Scots scored at least one run in each of the five innings, including a five spot in the top of the fifth. Olivet was held to two hits, singles by senior Shaelyn Lampinen and freshman Mia Thurman. Sophomore Alisha Gahn suffered the pitching loss after yielding eight runs on 12 hits and three walks over the first four and one-third innings.
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
- Alma pushed across four runs in the first inning, one run in the second, two runs in the third and three runs in the fourth for the 10-0 run-rule victory.
- The Comets did not have a hit. Their lone base runner was junior Olivia Burt who reached base safely on an error by the third baseman. Freshman Elliott Jarvi was the losing pitcher after giving up 10 runs (eight earned) on nine hits and three walks over four innings.
