Women’s Basketball Team Defeats University of Michigan-Dearborn, 91-53
The Olivet College women's basketball team defeated the University of Michigan-Dearborn, 91-53, in a non-conference game tonight at the Upton Center. The Lady Comets improve their overall record to 4-3, and UM-Dearborn has a 3-11 overall mark.
OLIVET, MICH. – The Olivet College women's basketball team defeated the University of Michigan-Dearborn, 91-53, in a non-conference game tonight at the Upton Center. The Lady Comets improve their overall record to 4-3, and UM-Dearborn has a 3-11 overall mark.
After a 22-22 tie with 4:13 remaining in the first half, the Comets went on a 13-4 run to lead by nine at 35-26 at halftime. In the second half, the Comets played sensational defense, forcing the Wolves to make five-of-29 shots from the floor. Olivet connected on 20-of-38 shots.
Senior forward Louisa Grill (Williamston High School) led the Lady Comets with a game-high 28 points and 15 rebounds. Junior guard Molly Lipton (Ann Arbor/Pioneer High School) added 20 points on six-of-seven shooting from the floor, including four-of-five from three-point range. Juniors Kim Strange (Ellsworth High School) and Lauren Kandlstorfer (Marcellus High School) came off the bench and scored 13 and 11 points, respectively. Freshman center Amanda Johnston (Mt. Morris/Genesee High School) grabbed 10 rebounds.
Allandra Bulger and Amber Taylor paced UM-Dearborn with 21 points apiece. Bulger also grabbed a team-high nine rebounds.
Olivet will remain idle until after Christmas when it participates in the Taylor University Holiday Tournament in Upland, Ind. on Dec. 27-28. The Lady Comets will open play against Taylor at 6 p.m.
