Women's basketball team picked third in MIAA preseason coaches poll
The Olivet College women’s basketball team was selected to finish in a tie for third-place in the 2003-04 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Preseason Coaches’ Poll. Each coach was not allowed to vote for his/her own team.
The Olivet College women's basketball team was selected to finish in a tie for third-place in the 2003-04 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Preseason Coaches' Poll. Each coach was not allowed to vote for his/her own team.
The Lady Comets received 27 points and tied Alma and Calvin for third place. Albion was picked as the preseason favorite with 10 points, and Hope was second with 11 points.
Olivet returns seven letterwinners, including four starters from last year's team that finished the year with a 12-15 overall record and 6-8 MIAA mark. Captains Tonya Dawson (Marshall High School), Molly Lipton (Ann Arbor/Pioneer High School) and Kim Strange (Ellsworth High School) are the top players back for the Comets.
Olivet opens the season on Friday-Saturday, Nov. 21-22 at the Aquinas College Tip-Off Tournament in Grand Rapids. The Comets play the host Saints on Friday at 7 p.m.
