Women’s basketball team falls to Calvin, 76-56
The Olivet College women’s basketball team fell to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) foe Calvin College, 76-56, this evening at the Calvin Fieldhouse in Grand Rapids. With the win, the Knights (13-2, 7-1 MIAA) move into sole possession of second-place in the MIAA standings, while Comets (10-7, 6-2 MIAA) drop into third-place.

With the win, the Knights (13-2, 7-1 MIAA) move into sole possession of second-place in the MIAA standings, while Comets (10-7, 6-2 MIAA) drop into third-place.
Following an 8-8 tie at the 15:49 mark of the first half, the Knights went on an 18-2 run to go up by 16 points. The Comets answered with a 15-6 run to cut their deficit to seven points, 32-25, with 1:15 remaining in the half. At halftime, Calvin led 35-27.
In the second half, Olivet made it a one-point game, 39-38, with 16:47 left when junior Jen O'Neil (Auburn Hills/Avondale) made a fastbreak layup. The Knights ended the Comet rally and extended their lead to as many as 24 points in the closing minutes of the game.
For the game, junior Audrey Graham (Battle Creek/Lakeview) led all scorers with 19 points. She also grabbed a team-high six rebounds. O'Neil scored nine points, followed by junior Courtney Ivan (Belleville) with eight, including six-of-six from the free throw line.
Lisa Winkle posted a double-double, 17 points and 15 rebounds, to lead Calvin. Kelly Trewhella joined her in double figures with 14 points.
Olivet is back in action Saturday, Jan. 21, when it hosts Tri-State (Ind.) University at 3 p.m.
