Women’s basketball team loses to Calvin, 66-62
The Olivet College women’s basketball team dropped a 66-62 decision to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) leader Calvin College tonight at the Calvin Fieldhouse in Grand Rapids.

In the first half, the Knights (22-1, 15-0 MIAA) had a six-point lead, 22-16, with seven minutes left. The Comets (11-11, 8-7 MIAA) responded and took their first lead of the game, 30-28, when junior Amy Brackenwagen (Grand Ledge) made a layup. The score remained 30-28 at halftime.
Until the 7:19 mark of the second half, neither team led by more than five points. Back-to-back three-pointers by Kristi Brummel put Calvin up by six points, 52-46. Olivet answered with an 8-2 run to take a 55-54 lead. The Knights came down the court and made a basket to take the lead for good.
Senior Audrey Graham (Battle Creek/Lakeview) paced the Comets with 27 points on 11-of-15 shooting from the floor. Junior Jaime Kowalczyk (Wyandotte/Roosevelt) posted her third double-double of the season with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Brackenwagen also grabbed 10 rebounds.
For Calvin, Lisa Winkle had a team-high 18 points and game-high 13 rebounds. Marcia Harris added 17 points, and Brummel finished with 16 points.
Olivet wraps-up the regular season portion of its schedule Saturday by hosting Kalamazoo College. Tip-off from the Upton Center is 3 p.m.
