Women's basketball team defeats Tri-State, 56-50
Senior Audrey Graham (Battle Creek/Lakeview) scored a season-high 28 points and grabbed a career-high 14 rebounds as the Olivet College women’s basketball team beat Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) foe Tri-State (Ind.) University, 56-50, today at Hershey Hall in Angola.

The Comets (8-8, 5-4 MIAA) scored the first three points of the game and never trailed the rest of the game. There was one tie, 8-8, at the 15:52 mark of the opening half. From that point, Olivet outscored the Thunder (4-13, 2-7 MIAA), 13-1, to take an 11-point lead and eventually lead, 32-22 at halftime. In the second half, the Comets extended their lead to 11 points on three occasions.
For the game, Olivet out-rebounded Tri-State, 49-36, including a 21-9 edge in offensive rebounds. Graham was the only Olivet player in double figures. She made 10-of-20 baskets and six-of-seven free throws for her 28 points. Graham had seven offensive and seven defensive rebounds. Senior Amanda Johnston (Mt. Morris/ Genesee) scored eight points, while junior Amy Brackenwagen (Grand Ledge) had a team-high three assists.
The Comets continue MIAA play Wednesday, Jan. 24, when they host Albion College at 7:30 p.m.
