Kowalczyk named MIAA Player of the Week
Olivet College senior center Jamie Kowalczyk (Wyandotte/Roosevelt) has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Player of the Week for women’s basketball.
Olivet College senior center Jamie Kowalczyk (Wyandotte/Roosevelt) has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Player of the Week for women's basketball.
Kowalczyk led all scorers with 22 points in Olivet's 74-64 win against Kalamazoo College Dec. 15. She made 11-of-15 baskets for her 22 points. In addition, Kowalczyk grabbed six rebounds, including five off the defensive glass.
For the season, Kowalczyk leads the Comets in scoring (9.3 ppg) and is second in rebounding (4.8 rpg). She has made 32-of-55 (58.2 percent) field goals and 10-of-15 free throws.
Kowalczyk and the Comets (3-5, 2-0 MIAA) are back in action Wednesday night when they travel to Livonia for a non-conference game against Madonna University. Tip-off from the Activities Center is 7 p.m.
