The Olivet College women’s basketball team closed out the regular season portion of its schedule with a 70-47 loss at Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) rival Albion College.
The Olivet College women's basketball team closed out the regular season portion of its schedule with a 70-47 loss at Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) rival Albion College.
The Britons built a 13-3 lead in the first seven minutes, 21 seconds and never looked back. They led by as many as 17 points, 23-6, with 5:07 remaining in the first half. Olivet ended the half on a 13-4 run to cut its deficit to eight points, 27-19, at the break. In the second half, Albion pushed its lead up to 32 points on two occasions.
Senior Lauren Fishwick (Trenton) topped the Comets with 10 points. Senior Emily Brown (Muskegon/Mona Shores) added nine points and a team-leading seven rebounds.
The Britons had four players reach double figures. Nicole Dennis led the way with 18 points, followed by Claire Cannon with 13 and Brittany Kemperman and Melissa Shaw each with 10. Autumn Haggadone came off the bench to grab a team-leading seven rebounds.
Olivet returns to the court Tuesday, Feb. 24, when it travels to play Hope College in the quarterfinals of the 2009 MIAA Tournament. Tip-off from the DeVos Fieldhouse in Holland is 7:30 p.m.
