OLIVET, Mich. – Olivet College junior forward Carli Reid (Lansing/Waverly) has earned Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Co-Player of the Week honors for women's basketball team. She is sharing the honors with Emily Lindsay from Kalamazoo College.
Reid scored a game-high 20 points in leading the Comets to a 77-73 win over Calvin College Jan. 4 at The Cutler Event Center in Olivet. The win was the first for Olivet over Calvin since Jan. 27, 2001, and only the seventh in the 72-game history between the two schools. Reid made 9-of-15 baskets and 2-of-4 free throws for her 20 points. She also grabbed three rebounds and committed only one turnover in 34 minutes.
"Carli had a great game for us," said Olivet Head Women's Basketball Coach Nicole Burford. "She is a really talented player and has been playing pretty well all season. Carli stepped up Saturday especially when some key people were in foul trouble. She has the ability to have big games for us and gave us one when we really needed it!"
For the season, Reid is averaging 11.4 points and 6.8 rebounds per game. She is shooting 51.4 percent (57-of-111) from the floor and 63.9 percent (23-of-36) from the free throw line.
Olivet travels to play Kalamazoo for a key MIAA contest Wednesday night at 6 p.m.
