Olivet College’s Lang selected as MIAA Player of the Week for women’s basketball
Olivet College junior center Stefanie Lang (Valparaiso, Ind.) has been selected as the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Player of the Week for women’s basketball.
OLIVET, Mich. – Olivet College junior center Stefanie Lang (Valparaiso, Ind.) has been selected as the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Player of the Week for women's basketball. She is being honored as the Player of the Week for the fourth time this season and fifth time in her career.
Lang averaged 24.5 points, 18.5 rebounds and three blocks in leading the Comets to two wins and help clinch home court advantage in the upcoming MIAA Tournament. She scored 26 points and pulled down 17 wins in an 82-73 win Feb. 12 over Kalamazoo College at The Cutler Event Center in Olivet. Lang followed that performance with 22 points, 20 rebounds and four blocks in an 82-65 win Feb. 15 at Calvin College – the first Comets' win on the Knights' home floor since Feb. 5, 1992 and only the third-ever win at Calvin in school history.
For the season, Lang leads the MIAA in scoring (26.9 points per game) and rebounding (16.4 per game). She has a 59.5 shooting percentage from the floor and 74.4 percentage from the free throw line.
The Comets play their final two regular season contests this week. On Wednesday, they travel to play Saint Mary's (Ind.) College at 7:30 p.m., and on Saturday afternoon, they host Trine (Ind.) University at 1 p.m.
