Olivet College’s Lang named to WBCA All-America Team
Olivet College senior 6’4” center Stefanie Lang (Valparaiso, Ind.) has been named to the 2014-15 Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Division III All-America honorable mention team. She is earning this honor for a second straight season.
OLIVET, Mich. – Olivet College senior 6'4" center Stefanie Lang (Valparaiso, Ind.) has been named to the 2014-15 Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Division III All-America honorable mention team. She is earning this honor for a second straight season.
Lang averaged a double-double, 17.8 points and 12.4 rebounds, during the 2014-15 season. She posted 20 double-doubles, which tied for the fourth-most among all NCAA Division III women's basketball players. Lang broke the single-season school record with 49 blocks. She scored at least 20 points in 10 games, with her single-game high being 33 points against Adrian College. Lang's single-game rebounding high was 20 against Kalamazoo College.
This honor caps an outstanding three-year career in a Comet uniform for Lang. She finishes first all-time with 499 field goals made and 109 blocks, second in scoring with 1,208 points and third with 772 rebounds. Lang is the only women's basketball player in school history to score more than 1,000 points, grab more than 700 rebounds and block more than 100 shots. Her 1,208 points are the most by an Olivet basketball player, men's and women's, who played only three seasons at Olivet or in their first three seasons in a Comet uniform.
In addition to being a two-time WBCA All-America selection, Lang was a two-time first-team All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association pick. She also earned D3hoops.com All-Great Lakes Region honors twice – first team in 2014-15 and second team in 2013-14, and was a 2014-15 preseason D3hoops.com All-America second team choice.
