UOlivet opens MIAA play with loss against Adrian, 82-42

OLIVET, Mich. – The University of Olivet women's basketball team began the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) portion of its 2025-26 schedule with an 82-42 loss to Adrian College tonight at the Cutler Event Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Comets scored the first five points of the game. The Bulldogs answered with a 10-0 run to take their own five-point lead, 10-5, at the 3:58 mark of the opening quarter. Olivet scored the next two points to close the gap, 10-7. Adrian went on a 16-6 spurt to increase its advantage to 13 points, 26-13, at the end of the period.
• The Bulldogs outscored the Comets in each of the next three quarters – 23-4 in the second, 21-16 in the third and 12-9 in the fourth – for the 40-point margin of victory.

FOR THE COMETS

• Junior Christina Malackanich scored 12 points. She also grabbed seven rebounds.
• Freshman Madelyn Burdis netted nine points and pulled down nine rebounds.

UP NEXT

• Olivet heads to Albion College on Saturday to play the Britons. Tip-off from Kresge Gymnasium is scheduled for 1 p.m.
