Lady Comet golfers finish in seventh place at Jon P. Spiess Memorial Invitational
The Olivet College women's golf team finished in seventh place (out of nine teams) at the 2003 Jon P. Spiess Memorial Inviational at the Ironwood Golf Course in Wauseon, Ohio. Defiance (Ohio) College served as the host.

The Lady Comets broke the school record with a team score of 361 strokes. The previous record was 375 at the Kalamazoo College Invitational on Sept. 9, 2002. Manchester (Ind.) College won the team title at 315 strokes.
Leading the way for Olivet was freshman Kristy Latimer (Battle Creek/Harper Creek High School), who shot an 87. She was followed by sophomore Katie Edick (Charlotte High School) with an 88, freshman Lindsey Struble (Battle Creek/Harper Creek High School) with a 91, sophomore Wendy Mickelwait (Middleville/Thornapple Kellogg High School) with a 95 and freshman Amanda London (Marshall High School) with a 117.
Freshman Stephanie Nicolai (Shelbyville/Wayland Union High School) competed as an individual and shot a 92.
The Lady Comets will next be in action on Tuesday, Sept. 16 when it opens Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play at The Medalist Golf Club in Marshall. It is the first of the three league jamborees culminating in the two-day MIAA Championships at the Bedford Valley Country Club in Battle Creek on Oct. 10-11. Olivet is the host for the championships.
