Women’s golf team finishes in 14th-place at Ferris State Bulldog Invitational
The Olivet College women’s golf team fired a team school record total of 342 strokes today en route to a 14th-place finish (out of 19 teams) today at the Ferris State Bulldog Invitational at the Katke Golf Course in Big Rapids. Individually, sophomore Kristy Latimer (Battle Creek/Harper Creek High School) shot a school record round of 81 strokes.
Lady Comets break school record with 342 team score
The Olivet College women’s golf team fired a team school record total of 342 strokes today en route to a 14th-place finish (out of 19 teams) today at the Ferris State Bulldog Invitational at the Katke Golf Course in Big Rapids. Individually, sophomore Kristy Latimer (Battle Creek/Harper Creek High School) shot a school record round of 81 strokes today for a two-day score of 166 strokes.
The Lady Comets had a two-day total of 706 strokes. The host Bulldogs captured the team title with a 595. The 19 team field consisted of 12 NCAA Division II schools, six NCAA Division III schools and one NAIA school. Olivet finished fourth among Division III teams.
Following Latimer was freshman Jennifer Lambrath (Saline High School) with a 175 (89-86), freshman Stephanie Pott (Kalamazoo Mattawan High School) with a 182 (94-88), junior Katie Edick (Charlotte High School) with a 184 (97-87), junior Wendy Mickelwait (Middleville/ Thornapple Kellogg High School) with a 188 (96-92) and freshman Amanda Sanders (Concord High School) with a 190 (97-93). Sophomore Stephanie Nicolai (Shelbyville/Wayland Union High School) competed as an individual and fired a 91.
Olivet is idle until it competes in the first Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Jamboree on Saturday, Sept. 11, at Pine Rivers Country Club. Alma College will serve as the host.
