Women’s golf team ties for second at Methodist Tri-Match

In a battle of nationally-ranked teams, the Olivet College women's golf team tied for second-place Friday at the Methodist (N.C.) University Tri-Match at the MU Golf Course.

The host Monarchs, ranked No. 1 in the most recent Golf World/NGCA poll, took first-place with a 331 team score. No. 10 Olivet and No. 3 Saint Mary's (Ind.) College were 16 strokes back, both finishing with a 347.

The Comets were led by sophomore Lauren Campbell (Fenton), who had an 84. Senior Megan Rimmel (Ithaca) shot an 86. Junior Abby Wheeler (Grayling) had an 88, and junior Amber Conrad (Battle Creek/Harper Creek) was a stroke behind with an 89.

Olivet is now idle until Saturday and Sunday, April 10-11 when it competes at the DePauw (Ind.) University Invitational at the Twin Bridges Golf Course in Danville, Ind. Action gets started Saturday at 1 p.m., and Sunday at 8:30 a.m.
