Women’s golf team wins MIAA Jamboree #3
Amber Conrad shot a 79, and the women’s golf team used its home course to an advantage, winning the MIAA Jamboree #3 today at The Medalist Golf Club.
MARSHALL, Mich. -- The Olivet College women's golf team used its home course to an advantage, winning the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Jamboree #3 today at The Medalist Golf Club in Marshall. Individually, senior Amber Conrad (Battle Creek/Harper Creek) earned medalist honors with a 79.
The Comets posted a 341 team score to beat Saint Mary's (Ind.) College by two strokes and cut into the Belles' lead in the league's seasonal standings. Saint Mary's now leads by just four strokes over Olivet, 999-1,003. The rest of today's team scores were Hope in third at 345, followed by Albion 353, Trine 373, Adrian 376, Calvin 391, Alma 412 and Kalamazoo 429. In the seasonal standings, the Comets have a comfortable 40 stroke lead over third-place Hope.
Conrad's 79 included a 39 on the front nine and a 40 on the back nine. Junior Lauren Campbell (Fenton) was seventh in the player standings at 85 (44-41). Freshman Theresa Damico (White Lake/Lakeland) tied for ninth at 88 (42-46). Freshman Adrienne Jones (Redford/Thurston) needed 89 (46-43) strokes to complete her round. Senior Abby Wheeler (Grayling) recorded a 91 (45-46).
The fourth jamboree is Saturday at the Lenawee Country Club in Adrian. The final two-day championship rounds are next Friday and Saturday, Oct. 8-9, at the Bedford Valley Country Club in Battle Creek.
