Women’s golf team finishes third, slips to third-place in MIAA Playoff
The Olivet College women’s golf team finished in third-place at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Playoff round #2 today on its home course, The Medalist Golf Club in Marshall. With the finish, the Comets also slipped to third-place in overall standings.
MARSHALL, Mich. – The Olivet College women's golf team finished in third-place at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Playoff round #2 today on its home course, The Medalist Golf Club in Marshall. With the finish, the Comets also slipped to third-place in overall standings.
In today's round, Olivet posted 341 team score to finish behind Hope College, 330, and Saint Mary's (Ind.) College, 334. Calvin was fourth at 354. Entering tomorrow's final round at The Medalist, Saint Mary's leads the overall standings at 658, followed by Hope, 680; Olivet, 686; and Calvin, 758. The school with the lowest cumulative total after the round will receive the league's automatic bid to the 2012 NCAA Division III National Championships May 8-11 at the Zollner Golf Course in Angola, Ind.
For today, senior Lauren Campbell (Fenton) was second in the player standings with a seven-over par 79. Sophomore Theresa Damico (White Lake/Lakeland) tied for third-place with an 81. Sophomore Adrienne Jones (Redford/Thurston) placed 15th with 88. Sophomore Ashley Stark (Grass Lake) shot a 93, and freshman Jennifer Myers (Palos Hills, Ill./Stagg) carded a 98.
