Women’s golfers tie for second-place at own invitational
The Olivet College women’s golf team tied for second-place at the 2013 O.C. Invitational held at The Medalist Golf Club in Marshall.
MARSHALL, Mich. – The Olivet College women's golf team tied for second-place at the 2013 O.C. Invitational held at The Medalist Golf Club in Marshall.
After finishing a 344 team score in Friday's first round, the Comets shaved 26 strokes off their total today for a 318 and a two-round total of 662 strokes to tie Carthage (Wis.) College. Bethel (Ind.) College bested the 18-team field with a 637, including a 309 for today's round. Wheaton (Ill.) College was fourth at 699, followed by Aquinas, 681; North Central (Ill.), 687; Allegheny (Pa.), 692; Siena Heights, 698; Cleary, 708; and Hope, 710; to round out the Top 10 teams.
Senior Adrienne Plourde (Livonia/Redford Thurston) was Olivet's best finisher, as she had a two-round total of 156 strokes to land a spot on the all-tournament team. Plourde shot a tournament-best two-over par 74 in today's final round.
Senior Theresa Damico (White Lake/Lakeland) carded a 165 (88-77). Senior Ashley Stark (Grass Lake) was next at 170 (86-84). Sophomore Casey Lamp (Kalamazoo/Hackett Catholic) finished one stroke behind her at 171 (88-83). Sophomore Brooke Kastamo (Howell/Hartland) had a 179 (91-88).
The Comets are now off until next Sunday and Monday, Sept. 14-15, when they participate in the O'Brien National Invitational, which is hosted by Saint Mary's (Ind.) College and played at the Warren Golf Course in South Bend.
