Women’s golfers run away with MIAA Jamboree #2 by 15 strokes, break MIAA course record
The Olivet College women’s golf team had four golfers finish in the top six of the individual standings, including senior Adrienne Plourde as the medalist, en route to a 15-stroke win at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Jamboree #2.
KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Olivet College women's golf team had four golfers finish in the top six of the individual standings, including senior Adrienne Plourde as the medalist, en route to a 15-stroke win at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Jamboree #2. Today's jamboree was played at the Milham Park Golf Course in Kalamazoo.
The Comets carded a 321 team score to best Saint Mary's (Ind.) College by 15 strokes. The 321 broke the MIAA course record, with the previous record being 325 by Saint Mary's in 2009. Calvin was third at 349, followed by Hope, 353; Trine, 358; Alma, 367; Adrian, 369; Albion, 385; and Kalamazoo, 407.
Plourde finished her round in 76 total strokes, with 12 pars and four bogies. Sophomore Casey Lamp tied for fourth-place with an 81. Senior Theresa Damico and sophomore Brooke Kastamo both had an 82. Senior Ashley Stark shot a 93.
Playing as individual, sophomore Kirstin Langer had an 87. Freshmen Lauren Bacso and Allyson Schulz completed their rounds in 88 and 91 strokes, respectively.
With the finish, Olivet extends its overall lead to 27 strokes, 650-677. Calvin is a distant third at 696, followed by Hope, 713.
The third MIAA jamboree will be next Wednesday, Oct. 2, at Thornapple Pointe Golf Club in Grand Rapids.
