OLIVET, Mich. – Mackenzie Inman has been named head women's lacrosse coach at Olivet College, according to an announcement by Athletic Director Ryan Shockey.
"I am excited about Mackenzie taking on the role as head coach of our women's lacrosse program," said Shockey. "I am expecting great things from her as she transitions from playing the sport to coaching the sport. She is a great addition to our staff, and I look forward to the future of our women's lacrosse program with Mackenzie leading it."
A native of Union City, Inman earned a bachelor's degree in exercise science from Olivet in 2015. As a freshman in 2011, she earned a varsity letter as a member of the volleyball team. She then made the switch to women's lacrosse, earning three varsity letters. Inman's best season came in 2015, as she helped the Comet win the most games in school history (nine) and advance to the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Tournament for the first time in school history.
Despite playing only three seasons of lacrosse, Inman ended her career third in every statistical category, including points (111), goals (95), assists (16), shots (230), ground balls (93), draw controls (96), caused turnovers (27) and free position goals (31). She started every game of her collegiate career (45) to be tied for fourth all-time. In 2015, Inman broke the single-season record for assists (12) and tied for the second-most points (45). She also has two of the top four single-season goals scored marks, 47 in 2015 and 42 in 2014.
"I would like to thank Ryan Shockey for this opportunity," said Inman. "I am excited to begin this new chapter in my life. As well, coming off a successful 2015 season, I am eager to see what the team can do in 2016."
