ALBION, Mich. – The Olivet College women's lacrosse team started Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play with a 19-1 loss to Albion College tonight at Sprankle-Sprandel Stadium in Albion.
The Britons led 12-0 at halftime and scored the first four goals of the second half to take a 16-0 lead. Senior Cecilia Bayne scored an unassisted goal with 12:21 left in the game to break up the shutout. Albion netted three more goals for its final margin of victory.
In defeat, the Comets took three shots – one each for Bayne, senior Jessica Doster and freshman Hannah Cook. Playing in her first game of the season, freshman Sabrina Butler had a team-leading three ground balls. Junior Xavier Vance collected a single-game, season-high 16 saves, while facing 50 Briton shots.
Olivet hosts Saint Mary's (Ind.) College Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m.
