Wrestling Team Finishes in Second Place at the Manchester College Tournament
The Olivet College wrestling team finished in second place out of seven teams today at the Manchester College Tournament. Manchester won the team championship with 167 points and the Fighting Comets were a close second with 139 points.
NORTH MANCHESTER, IND. -- The Olivet College wrestling team finished in second place out of seven teams today at the Manchester College Tournament. Manchester won the team championship with 167 points and the Fighting Comets were a close second with 139 points.
Leading the way for Olivet was freshman Justin Torres (Holly High School). Torres won the 197-pound championship, including an 11-2 major decision victory in the championship match.
Sophomore heavyweight Ryan Tiseo (Washington Romeo High School) was second. Senior 141-pounder Jacob Stenz (Alpena High School), senior 149-pounder Chris Dunham (Nashville/Maple Valley High School), freshman Ken Andrews (Swartz Creek High School) and freshman 165-pounder Mike Andrews (Swartz Creek High School) finished in third place in their respective weight class. In addition, freshman 174-pounder Jeff Wright (Rock/Escanaba High School) and senior 184-pounder Jason Creager (Grandville High School) were fourth.
The Olivet second-teamers were also successful with a third-place finish and two fifth-place finishes.
Olivet will next wrestle on Saturday, Feb. 1 when it travels to compete in the Wabash College Tournament in Crawfordsville, Indiana.
