Wrestling team loses to Springfield (Mass.), 19-15

The Olivet College wrestling team dropped a 19-15 decision to Springfield (Mass.) College in the second day of the Bud Whitehill Duals at Lycoming (Pa.) College.

Sophomore 125-pounder Kefentse Mandisa (Westland/John Glenn High School) beat his opponent, 7-1, to start the match. At 157 pounds, junior Tyler Hubert (Grand Ledge High School) improved to 3-0 at the duals with a 4-2 victory.

Sophomore 165-pounder Mike Andrews (Swartz Creek High School) defeated his opponent, 14-10. At 184 points, sophomore Ryan Newberry (South Haven High School) won after his opponent was disqualified for an illegal slam.

The wrestlers are idle until they participate in the Case Western (Ohio) Quad Meet next Saturday, Jan. 17. In addition to the host Spartans, Ohio Northern University and Mount Union (Ohio) College will be competing. Action will begin at 1 p.m.
