Wrestlers have a 3-0 record at the Case Western (Ohio) Quad Meet
The 27th-ranked Olivet College wrestling team had a 3-0 record this afternoon at the Case Western (Ohio) University Quad Meet. The Fighting Comets opened the day with a 31-15 win against Thiel (Pa.) College; then beat Mount Union (Ohio) College, 19-16, and ended the day with a 28-14 victory over the host Spartans.

Against Thiel, freshman Adam Monroe (Carson City Crystal High School), junior 174-pounder Todd Miller (Casnovia/Kent City High School) and sophomore 184-pounder Jeff Wright (Rock/Escanaba High School) won by pin with times of 5:40, 4:05 and 2:25, respectively.
Sophomore 125-pounder Kefentse Mandisa (Westland/John Glenn High School) recorded a 12-2 major decision victory. Sophomore 133-pounder Robert Dodson (Elsie/Ovid-Elsie High School) won 10-6, sophomore 149-pounder Ken Andrews (Swartz Creek High School) won 5-3 and sophomore Mike Daubenmeyer (Macomb/Lutheran North High School) won 7-2.
After sophomore Shawn Parker (Inkster/John Glenn High School) picked up an 8-3 victory against Mount Union, the Purple Raiders earned victories in the next four weight classes. The Comets closed the match out by winning the last five weight classes.
Sophomore 165-pounder Mike Andrews (Swartz Creek High School) won 6-5, sophomore 174-pounder Ryan Newberry (South Haven High School) defeated his opponent, 3-2, Wright won 12-1 and junior heavyweight Mike Mikalakis (Jeddo/Port Huron High School) won 6-1. Miller moved up two weight classes to 197 pounds and gained a 3-2 victory.
Against Case Western, Dodson won with a first period pin in 30 seconds. Monroe also won by pin in 2:00. Mandisa earned a 10-8 win, junior 157-pounder Tyler Hubert (Grand Ledge High School) won 10-2 and Mike Andrews garnered a 6-2 victory. Miller won by forfeit at 174 pounds.
Olivet will next wrestle on Saturday, Jan. 24, when it participates in the Manchester (Ind.) College Spartan Classic. Action begins on Saturday morning at 9 a.m.
