Wrestling team finishes in fourth-place at NCAA Midwest Regional Meet
The Olivet College wrestling team finished in fourth-place today (out of 13 teams) at the 2004 NCAA Division III Midwest Regional Meet hosted by Manchester (Ind.) College.
The Olivet College wrestling team finished in fourth-place today (out of 13 teams) at the 2004 NCAA Division III Midwest Regional Meet hosted by Manchester (Ind.) College.
The Fighting Comets tallied 81.5 points. Manchester won the team title with 122.5, followed by Wabash (Ind.) College with 114 and Millikin (Ill.) University with 110.
Leading the way for Olivet was sophomore 133-pounder Robert Dodson (Elsie/Ovid-Elsie High School), who placed second. After receiving a bye in the first round, he advanced to the semifinals with a 16-2 technical fall win. In the semis, Dodson defeated Nate Hills from Manchester, 2-0. He fell to Phillip Davidson in the championship match, 3-2.
In addition, sophomore 125-pounder Kefentse Mandisa (Westland/John Glenn High School), junior 157-pounder Tyler Hubert (Grand Ledge High School) and sophomore 184-pounder Ryan Newberry (South Haven High School) were fourth. Sophomore 165-pounder Ken Andrews (Swartz Creek High School), junior 174-pounder Todd Miller (Casnovia/Kent City High School) and junior heavyweight Charlie Walker (Romeo High School) finished in fifth-place.
