Wrestlers have 2-3 record at the 2003 Comet Duals
The Olivet College wrestling team had a 2-3 record today in the 2003 Comet Duals.
The Olivet College wrestling team had a 2-3 record today in the 2003 Comet Duals. In their first match, the Fighting Comets fell to Bethel (Ind.) College, 27-22. They bounced back to defeated Manchester (Ind.) College, 27-10.
In the third match, Olivet fell to defending NCAA Division III national champion Wartburg (Iowa) College, 42-6. The Comets rebounded to beat Wabash (Ind.) College, 23-19, before ending the day with a 24-9 loss against Lycoming (Pa.) College.
Leading the way for Olivet was sophomore 133-pounder Robert Dodson (Elsie/Ovid-Elsie High School), who had a 3-0 record. He beat Garrett Stemmons from Bethel, 12-1; pinned Kyle Blood from Wartburg in 6:30 and defeated Zachary Knarr from Lycoming, 11-7.
In addition, freshman 133-pounder Adam Monroe (Carson City/Crystal High School), sophomore 184-pounder Jeff Wright (Rock/Escanaba High School) and junior Charlie Walker (Romeo High School) had two wins apiece.
Monroe won both of his matches by pin, one in 55 seconds and the other in 4:27. Walker and Wright had one victory by decision and one by pin.
