Wrestling team finishes in second-place at B-W John Summa Memorial Tournament
The wrestling team placed all 10 starters en route to a second-place finish (out of seven teams) this afternoon at the 19th annual John Summa Memorial Tournament hosted by Baldwin-Wallace (Ohio) College.

The Fighting Comets, who are ranked 27th in the latest National Wrestling Coaches Association poll, tallied 114 team points to finish just 13 points behind SUNY-Brockport. The host Yellow Jackets were third with 109 points. In addition, senior 157-pounder Greg Hudie (Vassar), who was competing as a second-teamer, received the special award for the quickest pin (27 seconds).
Olivet crowned two individual championships in junior 165-pounder Mike Andrews (Swartz Creek) and junior 184-pounder Ryan Newberry (South Haven). Andrews finished the day with a 4-0 record. He won by injury default in the championship match. Newberry had a 3-0 record with a 4-3 win over Cory Norvell from Wilmington (Ohio) College in the championship match.
Junior 157-pounder Mike Daubenmeyer (Macomb/Lutheran North) and senior 174-pounder Todd Miller (Casnovia/Kent City) earned runner-up finishes as each had a 2-1 record. Third-place finishes were by junior 141-pounder Shawn Parker (Inkster/John Glenn) and senior 197-pounder Ahmad Zeaiter (Kalamazoo/Portage Northern). Parker lost his semifinal match but rebounded to win two matches. Zeaiter was pinned in his first match of the day and bounced back to win three straight.
Junior 125-pounder Jerry Samson (Portland) was fourth, sophomore 133-pounder Jaysen Brandt (Sterling Heights/Henry Ford II) and senior heavyweight Ryan Tiseo (Washington/Romeo) were fifth and Junior 149-pounder Tyler Goodnight (Midland/Bullock Creek) claimed sixth-place.
The highest Olivet second-teamer was freshman 184-pounder Aaron Stewart (Dansville), who was fourth.
The Comets will next participate in the Mid-States Conference Tournament Saturday, Feb. 12 at Rose-Hulman (Ind.) Institute of Technology.
