Wrestling team beats Ohio Northern JV, 27-16

The wrestling team defeated the Ohio Northern University (ONU) junior varsity squad, 27-16, tonight at MacKay Gymnasium in Olivet.

Junior 125-pounder Jerry Samson (Portland) won the first match of the night, 8-1. ONU then picked up three wins at 133, 141 and 141 pounds.

The Fighting Comets answered with wins in the next four matches. Sophomore 157-pounder Joel Rozeboom (Mason) won, 6-5, junior 165-pounder Mike Andrews (Swartz Creek) pinned his opponent in 4:54, senior 174-pounder Todd Miller (Casnovia/Kent City) won by forfeit and freshman 184-pounder Dayne Fletke (Middleville/Thornapple Kellogg) won 7-2.

The Polar Bears earned a technical fall victory at 197 pounds. Senior heavyweight Ryan Tiseo (Washington/Romeo) finished the night with a first period pin in 1:49.
