Wrestling team beats Manchester, 39-3
The wrestling team won 9-of-10 bouts en route to a 39-3 win over Manchester tonight at the PERC in North Manchester, Indiana.
NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. -- The Olivet College wrestling team, ranked No. 9 in the most recent NWCA poll, won 9-of-10 bouts en route to a 39-3 win over Manchester (Ind.) College tonight at the PERC in North Manchester, Indiana.
Olivet's nine wins consisted of three pins, one forfeit and five minor decisions. Senior Adam Wilson (Battle Creek/Harper Creek) dropped down one weight class to earn the forfeit victory at 125 pounds. At 133 pounds, freshman Robbie Bidlingmaier (Chesterfield Twp./Anchor Bay) pinned Jared Snyder in 4:38.
Freshman Justin Holm (Battle Creek/Harper Creek) followed with a 4-1 win at 141 pounds. After a 6-1 loss at 149 pounds, the Comets won the 157 and 165 pound weight classes with a pair of first period pins. Freshman Matt Wilming (New Baltimore/Anchor Bay) got the first pin just seven seconds before the end of the opening period. Senior Justin Jaynes (Richmond) was faster at 1:26.
At 174 pounds, Jeff Holm (Battle Creek/Harper Creek) scored a few more points than his twin brother, winning 7-2. Senior captain Jim Neal (Marysville) posted an 8-5 win at 184 pounds. Junior Justin Leonard (Webberville) won a close match, 3-1, at 197 pounds. Sophomore Logan Renas (Big Rapids) capped the big win with a 10-3 victory at 285 pounds.
The Comets will return to action this Saturday, Jan. 15, at the 2011 Wendy's Duals, hosted by Ashland (Ohio) University.
