UOlivet has 4-0 record at Comet Duals

OLIVET, Mich. – The University of Olivet wrestling team defeated Heidelberg (Ohio) University, 35-15; John Carroll (Ohio) University, 26-16; University of Mount Union (Ohio), 32-17; and Wilmington (Ohio) College, 41-10, to finish with a 4-0 record today at the 2025 Comet Duals inside the Cutler Event Center.
FOR THE COMETS
- At 133 pounds, freshman Trenden Bashore posted a 4-0 record. He won his first three matches by minor decision (7-2, 5-3, 4-2) before ending his day with a 17-4 major decision win. Two of the wins were against opponents in the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Individual Regional Rankings.
- At 141 pounds, junior Josh Graybeal had a 3-1 record. Two of his wins were pins in less than one minute at 47 and 44 seconds, and the third win was an 11-2 major decision.
- At 149 pounds, freshman Gabriel Gibbons won both of his matches, 8-6 and pin in 1:28.
- Also, at 149 pounds, junior Aden Baynes earned one win, a 9-7 decision.
- At 157 pounds, senior Darren McLeod finished the day with a 3-1 record. His wins were a first-period pin at 56 seconds, a first-period 15-0 technical fall and 10-0 major decision.
- At 165 pounds, junior Kyan Larson went 3-0. Two of the wins were first-period pins at 1:44 and 2:28. His third win was a 5-4 decision, scoring a takedown as the buzzer sounded to end the match.
- At 174 pounds, junior Juwan Vines also posted a 3-1 record. He won by fall in the first period (1:51), major decision (15-4) and forfeit. The major decision was against a Mount Union wrestler ranked No. 5 in the NWCA Region 4 rankings.
- At 184 pounds, sophomore Jack Ward tallied a 3-1 record. He had two pins (5:17 and 0:40), and an 8-1 minor decision.
- At 197 pounds, senior Gideon Loewen ended the day with a 3-1 record. He pinned two of his opponents at 3:43 and 1:29, and received a forfeit victory for his third win.
- At 285 pounds, junior Mason Knight recorded a 3-1 record, with one pin (3:31), one technical fall (15-0) and one minor decision victory (7-1).
