The Olivet College women's soccer team tied Adrian College, 2-2, today in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association contest in Adrian.
The Lady Comets opened the scoring midway through the first half when sophomore midfielder Jenna Rosengren (Rockford High School) scored on a pass from freshman midfielder Stacey Stickney (St. Joseph High School). The score remained 1-0 at halftime.
Olivet stretched its lead with a penalty kick goal by sophomore Sam Dyke (Hudsonville High School) in the 53rd minute. Adrian cut the deficit to 2-1 with a penalty kick goal in the 78th minute, and then scored the game-tying goal with just under eight minutes left in regulation.
In the game, Adrian outshot the Comets, 21-11. Stickney had five shots. In goal, sophomore Gretchen Ford (Harbor Springs High School) played all 90 minutes of regulation play and was credited with 10 saves. Freshman Dani Jacobs (Suttons Bay High School) was in goal for the 20 minutes of overtime play and made two saves.
The Lady Comets are next in action on Tuesday, Nov. 4, when they host Saint Mary's College of Ind. at 3 p.m. Next Saturday, Olivet ends the 2003 season when it travels to play Hope College at noon.
