The Olivet College women's soccer team defeated Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) newcomer Tri-State (Ind.) University, 5-0, this afternoon in Angola, Indiana.
After a scoreless first half, the Lady Comets erupted for five second-half goals. Sophomore Stacey Stickney (St. Joseph High School) struck first at the 52:01 mark off a pass by sophomore Ann Marie Keisic (Sterling Heights/Warren Cousino High School). Stickney added another goal five minutes later with freshman Lindsay Bialas (Vicksburg High School) receiving credit for an assist.
In the 70th minute, sophomore Heather Wolf (Marshall High School) made the score 3-0 with an unassisted goal. Freshman Shannon Fisher (Delton Kellogg High School) scored in the 73rd minute, and Stickney earned her second assist of the contest. Freshman Anna Mueller (Pennfield High School) closed the scoring with an unassisted goal at the 79:56 mark.
For the game, the Comets had 12 shots, including four by Keisic and three by Stickney. In goal, junior Gretchen Ford (Harbor Springs High School) faced 14 shots and made five saves.
Olivet returns to action Saturday, Sept. 25, when it hosts Saint Mary's (Ind.) College at noon.
