The Olivet College women's soccer team fell to Hope College, 2-0, today at the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet.
The Flying Dutch got on the scoreboard in the 40th minute when Kristen Schwenk's shot from 20 yards out was just out of reach of the goalkeeper's hands. There was no more scoring in the half. Hope added to its lead 3:58 into the second half when Lindsay Jipping headed the ball into the goal.
Olivet finished the game with 12 shots, including three each by sophomore Lizzy Julian (Mattawan) and freshman Marcee Lettinga (Grand Rapids/Forest Hills Central). Junior goalie Megan Colby (Sparta/Cedar Springs) faced 17 shots, 11 on-goal, and made nine saves.
The Comets will play their next three games on the road, beginning Wednesday, Oct. 14, at Trine (Ind.) University. Game time is 4 p.m.
