The Olivet College women's soccer team was shutout by Case Western Reserve (Ohio) University, 1-0, today in the first round of the John Carroll University Classic in University Heights, Ohio.
The only shot to get past the Comet goalkeeper, junior Sarah Westen (Grand Ledge), was Case's first shot of the game in the third minute by Kaitlyn Yule. From that point, Olivet held the Spartans scoreless despite being outshot, 23-5. Sophomore Sam Spiteri (St. Clair Shores/Lake Shores) recorded two shots for the Comets. Westen collected 14 saves.
Olivet will play Grove City (Pa.) College in the second round tomorrow, beginning at noon.
