Women’s soccer team loses 2-1 at Bluffton in season-opener

BLUFFTON, Ohio – The Olivet College women's soccer team opened the 2021 campaign with a 2-1 loss to Bluffton (Ohio) University today at the Sears Complex.

• The Comets took a 1-0 lead in the 33rd minute when junior Macy Gorrell found the back of the net. Senior Katie Brown was credited with the assist.
• The Beavers leveled the score with 1:34 left before halftime.
• Bluffton scored what proved to be the game-winning goal just 1:44 into the second half.
• Olivet had a couple opportunities to level the score but was denied by the goalkeeper.

• Olivet finished the game with an 11-9 advantage in total shots.
• Sophomore Ella Jeske had a team-best four shots, including three on-frame.
• Freshman Lauren Pekrul and Elisabeth Perez Pablo each recorded two shots.
• Freshman Sarah Willard was in goal for all 90 minutes and collected two saves.

• Katelyn Burden and Julia Gibson each scored a goal.
• Taylor Dye and Emma White tallied two shots apiece.
• Brielle Collier earned the win in goal, as she played the entire game and registered five saves.

• Olivet plays a 1 p.m. game tomorrow at Heidelberg (Ohio) University.
