Harshbarger’s goal leads UOlivet to 1-0 win over Manchester

OLIVET, Mich. – Sophomore Ava Harshbarger's goal in the 36th minute stood up for the rest of the game, as The University of Olivet women's soccer team defeated Manchester (Ind.) University, 1-0, today at the Cutler Athletic Complex.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Comets tested the Spartan keeper in the first minute as a shot by junior Kelsie Finazzo was turned away for a corner kick. Olivet had several more scoring chances in the first 20 minutes.
• Finazzo passed the ball between two defenders. Harshbarger caught up to the ball at the top of the 18-yard box and ripped a shot to the upper, right corner of the goal. The ball hit off the crossbar and fell into the net.
• The Comets outshot the Spartans, 13-1, in the first half.
• Olivet had a couple chances to increase its lead in the second half, while Manchester also had opportunities to score the tying goal. Five of six shot attempts for the Comets were put on frame, and three of the five Spartan shots were on target.

FOR THE COMETS

• Olivet totaled 19 shots in the game.
• Harshbarger and junior midfielder Taylor Facca each tallied three shots.
• Junior Viveca Krolczyk earned the shutout win in goal, as she had three saves.
