Women’s swimming and diving team defeats Albion, 131-108
The Olivet College women’s swimming and diving team defeated Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association rival Albion College, 131-108, today at the Dean Aquatic Center in Albion.

Leading the way for the Comets was senior Jill Lingbeek (Plainwell), who won two individual events and swam a leg of the winning 200-yard medley relay. She took first in the 50-yard freestyle (:25.72) and 100-yard butterfly (1:01.95). Joining Lingbeek on the winning relay were sophomore Katie Kilmartin (Wayland), junior Katherine Roesch (Oakland Twp./Lake Orion) and freshman Kelly Schulze (Kalamazoo/Central). Their time was 1:58.74.
Olivet was also first in three other individual events along with the 200-yard freestyle relay. The relay consisted of Schulze, junior Laura Herzog (St. Joseph), freshman Amy Johnson (Gaylord) and Kalee Redder (Grandville/Jenison), and they clocked in at 1:44.62.
Individually, Johnson was first in the 100-yard freestyle (:55.55). Redder claimed first in the 100-yard backstroke (1:05.47). Junior Kristin Bloomquist (Holt) took top honors in the three-meter diving competition (237.75).
The Comets return to the pool Dec. 10, when they travel to compete in the North Central (Ill.) College Invitational.
