Women's swimming and diving team wins Chicago Invitational by 114 points
The Olivet College women’s swimming and diving team has won the team title at the University of Chicago Invitational for the second consecutive year. This year, the Comets tallied 1,010 points, which was 114 points more than runner-up Chicago.

Today, Olivet had six first-place finishes. After winning the 50-yard freestyle last night, Amy Johnson (Gaylord) was first today in the 100- and 200-yard freestyle. Her times were :54.28 seconds in the 100, and 2:00.01 in the 200. Johnson also swam a leg of the winning 200-yard medley, 400-yard freestyle and 800-yard freestyle relays.
Joining Johnson on the 200 medley relay was Kalee Redder (Jenison), Carrie Schroeder (Marshall) and Jackie Taylor (Plainwell). Their time was 1:55.35. Johnson and Redder along with Laura Herzog (St. Joseph and Jackie Taylor (Plainwell) captured the 400 free relay in 3:45.03. The 800 free relay team was Sarah Boyd (Napoleon, Ohio), Herzog, Johnson and Redder, and they clocked-in at 8:15.10.
Also taking first were Herzog in the 1,650-yard freestyle (18:45.45) and Taylor in the 100-yard backstroke (1:02.71). In addition, the ladies had three runner-up finishes in Schroeder, 100-yard breaststroke (1:12.77); Taylor, 200-yard backstroke (2:16.61); and junior Courtney Mich (Bay City/Western), one-meter diving (354.35 points).
The Comets return to the pool Saturday, Jan. 20 to resume Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association action against Alma College at 1 p.m.
