Women’s swimming and diving team defeats Saint Mary’s, 129-100
The Olivet College women’s swimming and diving team took first-place in 10-of-13 events to beat Saint Mary’s (Ind.) College, 129-100, this afternoon at the Upton Center Pool in Olivet.

Sophomore Caitlin Lohr (Holland/Hamilton) won the 50 and 100 freestyle in season-best times of 25.03 and 55.34 seconds, respectively. She also swam the leadoff leg of the winning 200 freestyle relay. Sophomore Jessica Howard (Fort Wayne, Ind./Homestead) was also a double winner, touching first in the 500 and 1,000 freestyle at 5:31.48 and 11:17.92, respectively. Sophomore Megan Waschak (Battle Creek/Central) was first on both diving boards, scoring 254.40 points on the one-meter and 230.05 points on the three-meter.
Other winners were freshman Crystal Jager (Dorr/Hamilton) in the 200 individual medley (2:20.00) and freshman Rachael Sanders (Brownstown/Woodhaven) in the 200 breaststroke (2:48.68).
Swimming on the winning 400 medley relay were freshman Jennie Plamondon (Flushing), Jager, freshman Erica Schlabach (Goshen, Ind./Northridge) and freshman Jana Blodgett (Sturgis). Their time was 4:21.87. Joining Lohr on the 200 freestyle relay were Jager, freshman Chelsea Mullins (Macomb/L'Anse Creuse North) and Blodgett. They clocked-in at 1:45.42.
Schlabach recorded a pair of second-place finishes (200 freestyle, 2:07.18; and 200 butterfly, 2:23.18). Junior Sara Griffith (Brighton) placed second on both the one-meter (225.05) and three-meter (191.90) diving boards.
Olivet returns to the pool next Saturday, Jan. 23, against Alma College. Action starts at 1 p.m.
