Women’s swimming and diving team falls to Kalamazoo, 185.5-97.5

The Olivet College women's swimming and diving team dropped a 185.5-97.5 decision to Kalamazoo College in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association dual meet inside the Upton Center Pool in Olivet.
Sophomore Jessica Howard (Fort Wayne, Ind./Homestead) swept the distance freestyle events, winning the 500 in 5:35.67 and 1,000 in 11:24.68. Freshman Crystal Jager (Dorr/Hamilton) finished first in the 100 breaststroke (1:10.25). The most exciting finish of the day was in the 50 freestyle, where sophomore Caitlin Lohr (Holland/Hamilton) swam to a tie for first with Kalamazoo's Taryn Edsall. Each touched the wall in 25.14 seconds.
Sophomore Megan Waschak (Battle Creek/Central) brought home a first-place finish on the one-meter diving board with 282.50 points. She was the runner-up on the three-meter board with 255.80 points.
Other second-place finishes were by Jager in the 100 butterfly (1:03.36), Lohr in the 100 freestyle (:57.46) and freshman Chelsea Mullins (Macomb/L'Anse Creuse North) in the 100 backstroke (1:10.72).
The Comets return to action Saturday, Dec. 5, at the Calvin College Invitational.
