The women’s swimming team dropped a 136.5-100.5 decision to Kalamazoo College in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association dual meet today in Kalamazoo.
KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The Olivet College women's swimming team dropped a 136.5-100.5 decision to Kalamazoo College in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association dual meet today in Kalamazoo.
The women turned in the fastest time in two individual events, as junior Jessica Howard (Fort Wayne, Ind./Homestead) won the 500 freestyle in 5:34.83 and sophomore Crystal Jager (Dorr/Hamilton) took first in the 200 individual medley (2:19.21). Junior Caitlin Lohr (Holland/Hamilton) had two runner-up finishes, 50 freestyle (:24.17) and 100 freestyle (:55.95).
Howard also finished second in the 200 freestyle with a season-best time of 2:05.87. Also recording a season-best time was freshman Alivia Hammond (Byron Center) in the 200 backstroke at 2:21.47. The 200 freestyle relay quartet of Lohr, junior Emily LaPorta (Hamilton), sophomore Jana Blodgett (Sturgis) and freshman Ally Ramer (Holt) had the third fastest time of 1:42.88
The Comets return to action next Saturday, Feb. 5, when they host Calvin College in their final MIAA dual meet of the season. Action inside the Upton Center Pool gets under way at 1 p.m.
