Women’s swimming team loses to Albion, 185-97
The women’s swimming team lost to Albion College, 185-97, today in a MIAA dual meet at the Upton Center Pool in Olivet.
ALBION, Mich. -- The Olivet College women's swimming and diving team lost to Albion College, 185-97, today in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) dual meet at the Upton Center Pool in Olivet.
Junior Caitlin Lohr (Holland/Hamilton) won two events for the Comets, as she took first-place in the 50 (:24.83) and 100 (:56.80) freestyle. Freshman Jacalyn Cordero (Holland) clocked-in with a first-place time of 1:05.83 in the 100 backstroke.
Junior Jessica Howard (Fort Wayne, Ind./Homestead) and Erica Schlabach (Goshen, Ind./Northridge) each recorded two second-place finishes. Howard was second in the distance freestyle events, 500 (5:44.12) and 1,000 (11:37.68). Schlabach was second in the butterfly events, stopping the clock at 1:04.41 in the 100 and 2:25.52 in the 200. Freshman Ally Ramer (Holt) placed second behind Lohr in the 50 freestyle (:26.21).
Both relays also turned in second-place finishes. The 200 medley relay team of freshman Alivia Hammond (Byron Center), Schlabach, Lohr and junior Emily LaPorta (Hamilton) finished in 1:58.83. The 200 freestyle relay team of Ramer, Jana Blodgett (Sturgis), LaPorta and Hammond touched the wall in 1:45.59.
Olivet is off until Thursday-Saturday, Dec. 2-4 when it competes at the Calvin College Winter Invitational. The first day of action is timed finals in the evening, while the other two days will have preliminaries in the morning and finals at night.
