Women’s swimming and diving team falls to Kalamazoo, 201-65, in MIAA-opener
The Olivet College women’s swimming and diving team opened its Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) schedule with a 201-65 loss to Kalamazoo College this afternoon at the Upton Center Pool in Olivet.

Despite having only seven swimmers and one diver, the Comets posted some solid performances. Junior Jazmin Johnson (Grand Rapids/Northview) was the only winner, as she touched the pad first in the 50 freestyle in 25.75 seconds.
Olivet also had eight second-place finishes. Senior Katie Dobis (Munster, Ind./Munster) was second in the 200 backstroke (2:28.57). Sophomore Megan Dossey (Trenton) finished second in the 500 freestyle (5:55.39). Sophomore Kira Gates (Grosse Ile) placed second in the 200 butterfly (2:20.60) and 200 IM (2:21.83).
Senior Alivia Hammond (Byron Center) touched second in the 100 backstroke (1:04.70). Johnson was the runner-up in the 100 freestyle (55.72). Diving for the first-time ever, freshman Allyson Schultz (Traverse City/Central) finished second on the one-meter board with 116.65 points.
The Comets will travel to Hope College for a MIAA dual meet next Saturday, Nov. 2, starting at 1 p.m.
