Women’s tennis team serves up 6-3 win over Grace (Ind.)
The women’s tennis team served up a 6-3 victory over non-conference foe Grace (Ind.) College this afternoon to open its 2005 schedule at the Michigan State University Indoor Tennis Facility in East Lansing.
The women's tennis team served up a 6-3 victory over non-conference foe Grace (Ind.) College this afternoon to open its 2005 schedule at the Michigan State University Indoor Tennis Facility in East Lansing.
The day started off with the Lady Comets sweeping the three doubles matches. The #1 tandem of sophomores Mallory Bailey (Kalamazoo/Loy Norrix) and Rachel Vilums (Hudsonville) won 9-7. The #2 duo of sophomores Corey Jager (Kalamazoo/Loy Norrix) and Lindsey Struble (Battle Creek/Harper Creek) picked-up an 8-3 win. At #3 doubles, sophomores Jaime Morrison (Marshall) and Danielle Post (Marshall) won 8-2.
Olivet won three-of-six singles matches. Winning for the Comets were Vilums at #1 (6-3, 6-3), Struble at #4 (6-3, 7-6) and freshman Abbie Utberg (Commerce Twp./Walled Lake Central) at #6 (6-2, 6-1).
The Comets are idle until their spring break trip to Hilton Head, S.C. on March 7-10. Olivet's first match is March 7 versus Spartanburg-Methodist (S.C.) College at 2 p.m.
