The women's tennis team beat Waynesburg (Pa.) College, 6-3, this morning at the Port Royal Racquet Club in Hilton Head, S.C.
The women's tennis team beat Waynesburg (Pa.) College, 6-3, this morning at the Port Royal Racquet Club in Hilton Head, S.C.
The Lady Comets won three-of-six singles matches and swept the three doubles matches to gain the victory. Sophomore Rachel Vilums (Hudsonville) improved her season record to 5-1 with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles. Also winning in singles play were No. 5 player Jaime Morrison (Marshall), 6-1, 6-3 and No. 6 player Lacey Ferro (Jonesville), 6-0, 6-1.
Both the No. 1 doubles tandem of Vilums and Lindsey Struble (Battle Creek/Harper Creek) and No. 3 doubles tandem of Danielle Post (Marshall) and Stephanie Pott (Kalamazoo/Mattawan) won 8-2. The No. 2 tandem of Mallory Bailey (Kalamazoo/Loy Norrix) and Corey Jager (Kalamazoo/Loy Norrix) gained an 8-3 win.
Olivet will next play Wednesday, March 16, when it hosts Aquinas College at 4 p.m. at the Michigan State University Indoor Tennis Facility in East Lansing.
