Women's tennis team loses to Meredith, 5-4
The Olivet College women’s tennis team fell to Meredith (N.C.) College, 5-4, this morning at the Port Royal Racquet Club in Hilton Head, S.C. The match was the first of three for the Comets on their spring break trip.
The Olivet College women's tennis team fell to Meredith (N.C.) College, 5-4, this morning at the Port Royal Racquet Club in Hilton Head, S.C. The match was the first of three for the Comets on their spring break trip.
Olivet earned won one team point in doubles play and three more points in singles playing. The No. 2 doubles tandem of Jaclyn Mummaw (Buchannan) and Abbie Utberg (Commerce Twp./Walled Lake Central) picked-up a 9-7 victory.
Senior Rachel Vilums (Hudsonville) lost only two games en route to a 6-2, 6-0 win at the No. 1 singles flight. At No. 2 singles, Mummaw won in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2. Senior Lindsey Struble (Battle Creek/Harper Creek) earned a 6-2, 6-3 victory at No. 6 singles.
The Comets will be back in action Tuesday afternoon when they play Westminster (Pa.) College at 2 p.m.
