Women’s tennis team ends Spring Break trip with a 6-3 win against Bridgewater
The Olivet College women’s tennis team ended its Spring Break trip with a 6-3 win against Bridgewater (Va.) College today at the Port Royal Racquet Club in Hilton Head, S.C.
The Olivet College women's tennis team ended its Spring Break trip with a 6-3 win against Bridgewater (Va.) College today at the Port Royal Racquet Club in Hilton Head, S.C.
The Comets swept the three doubles matches. The No. 1 tandem of seniors Mallory Bailey (Kalamazoo/Loy Norrix)-Rachel Vilums (Hudsonville) and No. 3 tandem of seniors Corey Jager (Kalamazoo/Loy Norrix)-Lindsey Struble (Battle Creek/Harper Creek) each won by 8-3 scores. The No. 2 tandem of sophomore Jaclyn Mummaw (Buchanan)-junior Abbie Utberg (Commerce Twp./Walled Lake Central) captured an 8-6 pro-set victory.
Bailey, Mummaw and Struble won in singles play. At the No. 2 flight, Mummaw had a 6-1, 6-1 victory. At the No. 5 flight, Bailey won 7-5, 6-2. At the No. 6 flight, Struble did not lose any games en route to a 6-0, 6-0 victory.
Olivet will now be idle until next Wednesday, March 14, when it hosts Calvin College to open Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play. The match will get under way at 3:30 p.m.
