Women’s tennis team loses to Spring Arbor, 5-4
The Olivet College women’s tennis team was defeated by Spring Arbor University, 5-4, today at the Michigan State University Indoor Tennis Facility in East Lansing.
The Olivet College women's tennis team was defeated by Spring Arbor University, 5-4, today at the Michigan State University Indoor Tennis Facility in East Lansing.
The Comets (5-4) lost the three doubles matches. Olivet opened singles play with three straight wins to tie the team score at 3-3. Senior Rachel Vilums (Hudsonville) and sophomore Jaclyn Mummaw (Buchanan) won easily at No. 1 (6-1, 6-2) and No. 2 (6-1, 6-0) singles, respectively. Senior Lindsey Struble (Battle Creek/Harper Creek) improved to 7-2 on the season with a 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 6 singles.
The Cougars took a 4-3 lead as they won at No. 3 singles. Olivet tied the match at 4-4 when senior Jaime Morrison (Marshall) picked-up a 7-5, 6-4 victory at No. 5 singles. Spring Arbor won the match with a win at No. 4 singles.
The Comets are now idle until next Monday, April 2, when they travel to play Albion College at 3:30 p.m.
