The Olivet College women’s tennis team fell to the University of Texas at Dallas, 6-3, this morning at the Port Royal Racquet Club in Hilton Head, S.C. This match was the first of five during the Comets’ annual spring break trip.
The Olivet College women's tennis team fell to the University of Texas at Dallas, 6-3, this morning at the Port Royal Racquet Club in Hilton Head, S.C. This match was the first of five during the Comets' annual spring break trip.
Olivet earned its team points with two wins in doubles play and one win in singles play. In doubles play, the No. 1 duo of Jaclyn Mummaw (Buchanan) and Abbie Utberg (Commerce Twp./Walled Lake Central) posted an 8-2 pro-set win. The No. 2 doubles duo of Celeste Gruber (South Haven) and Leanne Scudder (St. Joseph/Lakeshore) won an 8-5 pro-set. In singles play, Gruber recorded a straight set, 6-0, 6-3, victory at the No. 3 flight.
The Comets return to the court tomorrow evening for a 6 p.m. match against Upper Iowa University.
